General Rules

GENERAL CONTEST RULES

  1. No purchase necessary. Contests are void where prohibited.
  2. WSHH-FM will announce when the contest or promotion begins and ends.
    1. Listen to the station for details on how to participate. For contests utilizing entry forms, entries must be filled out completely. Only one name per entry is permitted. Official entry blanks must be used; photocopies are ineligible.
    2. For phone-in contests: The station is not responsible for any telephone malfunctions or problems affecting a contestant’s attempts to call the station within the required time.
    3. For Text to Win on-air contests: The station is not responsible for any cell phone malfunctions or problems affecting a contestant’s attempts to text required keyword to #64636 within the required time.
    4. For contest entries via mail: the station is not responsible for lost, stolen, mutilated, wrongly-delivered, postage due, illegible, or untimely entries.
    5. For digital contest entries: the station is not responsible for entries not received due to difficulty accessing the internet, service outages or delays, computer difficulties, or other technical glitches.
  3. Contests are generally open to all station listeners who are U.S. residents, 18 years of age or older and who reside in the greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Employees of Renda Broadcasting Corporation and its stations, employees of all other Pittsburgh market media companies including radio stations, their affiliated entities, affiliated advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, and members of their immediate families are ineligible to participate or win.
  4. Listeners are eligible to win a station contest only once every 30 days; and a prize valued at $600 or more only once every 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted in any contest. Any prize not claimed within 90 days of winning will be forfeited by the winner–unless prize is not yet available.
  5. For digital contests: To enter on-line you must complete each required field on the on-line entry form.
  6. Some prizes, or prize certificates, must be picked up at the offices of the station at 900 Parish Street – Green Tree – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – 15220. Any prize or prize certificate not claimed within 90 days of winning will be forfeited by the winner. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, winner will be informed that the prize will be sent. In that case, therefore, winner assumes the risk of prize arrival. The station is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate. The station assumes no liability for prizes, including tickets to concerts and/or events that are cancelled or postponed by any promoter or artist. The station assumes no liability for gift certificates for products or services that are no longer available and/or being offered, (as in the case of a restaurant or merchant going out of business after the contest airs on the station). The station will not offer substitute prizes.
  7. Prize Winners may pick up prizes at WISH 99.7 – 900 Parish Street, 3rd Floor, Green Tree – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – 15220 during station office hours: Monday – Thursday – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm Friday – 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
  8. Listen to the station for details on grand prize or contest prizes and their values. All other incidental expenses associated with the grand prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. Prizes are non-transferable. Prizes may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash. There are no substitutions.
  9. Listen to the station for information on selection of prize winners and/or grand prize winner, if applicable.
  10. Payment of all federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Winner will be issued an IRS Form 1099 (or the equivalent) for any prize valued at $600 or more.
  11. By participating in the contest, the winner or winners (and their guest or traveling companion, if any) agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, without additional financial or other compensation, and to sign a publicity release prior to acceptance of the prize.  By participating in online contests, entrants agree for their freely provided information to be shared with station affiliates, sponsors, or partners for use in future communications.
  12. Contest winners (and their guests or travel companions, if any) will be required to sign a liability release prior to acceptance of any prize valued at $600.00 or greater or which prize includes the provision of transportation, whether or not such transportation is provided by the station. Pursuant to the liability release, the winner(s) will agree to hold the station, Renda Broadcasting Corporation, their affiliated companies and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the contest.
  13. For digital contests: the station, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the station’s website (wshh.com), or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. The station further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify any contest if it is not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.
  14. Prizes won from WSHH-FM are not for resale and are non-transferable. Violators of this rule will forfeit their opportunity to win future contests held by WSHH-FM. Enforcement of this rule is at the discretion of WSHH-FM
  15. For Text to Win Contests: Contestants have 10 minutes to respond with name or other requested information otherwise the prize is forfeited and station may pick another contestant.
  16. The station reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, which will become effective upon announcement, including the substitution of a prize or any portion of a prize of equivalent value.
  17. The station is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, The offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of a prize.
  18. All decisions by sweepstakes promoters are final and entrants agree to be bound by decisions made by sweepstakes promoters and station management.
  19. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant’s disqualification, at the sole discretion of the station.
  20. Copies of the written contest rules are available during regular business hours, at WSHH-FM Radio – Renda Broadcasting Corporation – 900 Parish Street – 3rd Floor – Pittsburgh, PA – 15220. Interested parties may also request a copy of the rules, in writing, utilizing a self-addressed stamped envelope (at same address).

 

FOCUS ON EXCELLENCE
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER TO WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING.

 

1. PROMOTION DATES

a. These rules (the “Official Rules”) govern the Focus on Excellence Contest (“Promotion”) will begin on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 12:00:00 am EST and end on July/August 2024 date TBD at 7:00:00 pm EST. 

 

2. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS

a. The Promotion is open to all legal residents of the United States and District of Columbia who are a Junior or Senior in high school, public or private (home school is ineligible), at the time of entry, and who live in the following counties in Pennsylvania: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland. Employees of Renda Broadcasting Corporation, d/b/a WSHH-FM and WHJB-FM (the “Promoter” or “Station”), its affiliated entities, subsidiaries, advertising agency, participating sponsors/promotional partners, other broadcasting stations in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, and the members of their immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, or children) or households (whether related or not) are ineligible to participate or win. This Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void outside the United States, in NY, and where prohibited.

 

b. Only one winner per household per 30 days is permitted in any Promoter contest.

 

c. Winner, or winner’s parent or legal guardian if winner is not at least 18 years of age, must hold a valid government-issued driver’s license and also must qualify for required automobile insurance, and present evidence of such insurance prior to the delivery of the prize.

 

d. Winner must have been enrolled in high school for the entire 2023/2024 school year.

 

3. ENTRY

a. To participate in the Promotion you may enter via the following method(s):

 

VIA ON SITE – To enter, visit Renda Broadcasting Corporation – 900 Parish Street, 3rd floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15220, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4 pm, except on holidays. You must fill out an entry form, submitting your first name and last name, complete address, city, county, state, zip code, high school, telephone number, date of birth, and a valid email address. You must also answer the following questions:

i. Are you a Junior or Senior in high school, and live in one of the following counties in Pennsylvania: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland?

ii. For which Year and Grading Period are you submitting your entry? “Grading Period” is defined as a quarter, trimester, or semester, depending on your school’s grade reporting practices. Examples: 2023 1st Quarter; 2024 3rd Trimester; 2024 2nd Semester.  Pass/Fail grades are not accepted as entry submissions.

 

iii. Were you enrolled in at least 5 classes during this Grading Period? (to enter, the answer must be “Yes”)

iv. Did you receive all “A’s” and “B’s” for this Grading Period? (to qualify for one entry, the answer must be “Yes”)

v. Did you receive perfect attendance for this Grading Period? (to qualify for an additional entry, the answer must be “Yes”)  Perfect attendance in conjunction with Pass/Fail grades are not accepted as entry submissions.

 

vi. Have you been enrolled in high school the entire Grading Period? (to enter, the answer must be “Yes”)

vii. Will you, or a parent or legal guardian – if you will not be at least 18 years of age on date of the end of the contest (6/30/24), have a valid driver’s license and qualify for required automobile insurance (to win, the answer must be “Yes”).

 

Entry Form can be obtained ahead of time at www.FocusPittsburgh.net. Entries must be submitted by 11:59:59 pm EST on Sunday, June 30, 2024. For the purpose of this promotion, a “Day” shall begin at 12:00:00 am EST and shall end at 11:59:59 pm EST.

 

2) VIA POSTAL MAIL – To enter, mail an entry form to Renda Broadcasting Corporation – 900 Parish Street, 3rd floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. Entrants must fill out an entry form, submitting your first name and last name, complete address, city, county, state, zip code, high school, telephone number, date of birth, and a valid email address. You must also answer the following questions:

i. Are you a Junior or Senior in high school, and live in one of the following counties in Pennsylvania: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland?

 

ii. For which Year and Grading Period are you submitting your entry? “Grading Period” is defined as a quarter, trimester, or semester, depending on your school’s grade reporting practices. Examples: 2023 1st Quarter; 2024 3rd Trimester; 2024 2nd Semester.  Pass/Fail grades are not accepted as entry submissions.

 

iii. Were you enrolled in at least 5 classes during this Grading Period? (to enter, the answer must be “Yes”)

 

iv. Did you receive all “A’s” and “B’s” for this Grading Period? (to qualify for one entry, the answer must be “Yes”)

 

v. Did you receive perfect attendance for this Grading Period? (to qualify for an additional entry, the answer must be “Yes”)  Perfect attendance in conjunction with Pass/Fail grades are not accepted as entry submissions.

 

vi. Have you been enrolled in high school the entire Grading Period? (to enter, the answer must be “Yes”)

 

vii. Will you, or a parent or legal guardian – if you will not be at least 18 years of age on date of the end of the contest (6/30/24), have a valid driver’s license and qualify for required automobile insurance (to win, the answer must be “Yes”).

 

3) VIA INTERNET – To enter, visit www.FocusPittsburgh.net and follow the links and instructions to fill out an entry form, submitting your first name and last name, complete address, city, county, state, zip code, high school, telephone number, date of birth, and a valid email address. You must also answer the following questions:

i. Are you a Junior or Senior in high school, and live in one of the following counties in Pennsylvania: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland?

ii. For which Year and Grading Period are you submitting your entry? “Grading Period” is defined as a quarter, trimester, or semester, depending on your school’s grade reporting practices. vii. Will you, or a parent or legal guardian – if you will not be at least 18 years of age on date of the end of the contest (6/30/24), have a valid driver’s license and qualify for required automobile insurance (to win, the answer must be “Yes”).

 

a. All entries must be submitted by 11:59:59 pm EST on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Internet entries will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. The authorized account holder is the natural person who is assigned to the email address by an internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning the email address or the domain associated with the submitted email address. Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same email address. Entries submitted will not be acknowledged or returned. Use of any device to automate entry is prohibited. Proof of submission of an entry shall not be deemed proof of receipt by Promoter. The contest administrator’s computer is the official time keeping device for the Promotion. For purpose of this Promotion, a “Day” shall begin at 12:00:00 am EST and shall end at 11:59:59 EST.  Pass/Fail grades are not accepted as entry submissions.

 

 

b. You may receive a maximum of 4 entries in the contest, which can consist of a maximum of 2 entries for official report cards containing all A’s and B’s, and 2 perfect attendance records for the 2023/2024 school year during the dates of this promotion.  You must have all A’s and B’s on an official report card to include an entry for a perfect attendance record.  A perfect attendance record without an official report card with all A’s and B’s is not admissible.

 

c. This Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook. By submission of an entry, an entrant releases Facebook from any responsibility or liability for the Promotion, the Promotion’s administration, prizes, or promotion. You are providing entry information to the Station and not to Facebook.

 

4. PRIZES

a. One (1) Grand Prize Winner shall be awarded a 2024 vehicle – Make and Model TBD - at C. Harper Auto Group, base model or better. Approximate Retail Value: $20,000.00. Prize Winner, or Prize Winner’s parent or legal guardian if Prize Winner is not at least 18 years of age, will be solely responsible for any applicable vehicle title, license and registration fees, freight, delivery, dealer prep, emissions inspection, additional equipment, all federal, state, and local taxes, insurance, gasoline, vehicle maintenance, all other fees and expenses not specified herein associated with the receipt and use of the Prize. At the time of the drawing, if the winner is not at least 18 years of age, the car must be titled in the winning student’s parent’s or legal guardian’s name. Any additional options (including the interior and exterior color) not specified herein are subject to availability and will be the responsibility of the Winner. Prize Winner, or Prize Winner’s parent or legal guardian if the winner is not at least 18 years of age, must provide proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license to take delivery and must take delivery at a dealership designated by Promoter within 30 days following date of notification of winning.  Prize make and model subject to change.  Prize is not transferable.  Grand Prize winner will also receive a $1,000 check, as provided by event sponsor, The Reschini Group.

 

b.  1st Runner up and 2nd Runner up will each receive a prize TBD at this time.

 

c. The prize vehicle is provided as is. Neither Promoter, nor C. Harper Auto Group has made or is responsible in any manner for any warranties, representations, or guarantees, expressed or implied, in fact or law, relating to the Prize vehicle, including without limitation, its quality, mechanical condition, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose, with the exception of any standard manufacturer’s warranty that may apply to the vehicle.

 

d. All prizes are awarded as is. There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prize, except that Promoter may, at its sole discretion, substitute prize(s) of comparable value or cash. The prize(s) are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities, or any other expenses. Promoter is not responsible for winner’s limitations that prevent acceptance, use, or nonuse of prize. Entrants acknowledge that the Released Parties, as defined herein, have not made, nor are in any manner responsible or liable for, any warranties, representations or guarantees, and hereby disclaim any and all warranties expressed or implied, in fact or in law, whether now or hereafter enacted concerning any prize, including without limitation implied warranties of quality, merchantability, mechanical condition, or fitness for a particular purpose, except for any express manufacturer’s warranty as may be included with the prize or as may be separately provided to participants by law. Other restrictions may apply.

 

e. Any prize certificates or coupons are subject to the terms and conditions as set forth by the issuer of the certificate or coupon. Such certificates and coupons are not refundable or transferable, and may not be substituted or exchanged for cash or credit at any time, nor will such certificates or coupons be replaced if unused, lost, stolen, or damaged.

 

5. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION

a. All decisions of Promoter management with respect to the Promotion are final.

 

b. One (1) Grand Prize winner will be chosen by random drawing, have qualification verified, and be invited to the final drawing at C. Harper Auto Group, 100 Harper Drive, Belle Vernon, PA 15012 on TBD date in July/August 2024 at 5:00 pm EST.   

 

c. Each report card and/or perfect attendance record on which entries were based must be verified before finalists are invited to the final drawing. If each official report card and/or perfect attendance record cannot be verified, the qualifier(s) will forfeit the Prize, and another qualifier(s) chosen via random drawing.  Verification of report card and/or perfect attendance record will occur via zoom call prior to virtual finale date.  Finalists will show verification on-screen at this pre-finale zoom call.

 

d. Odds of qualifying depend upon the number of entries received.   10 qualifiers will be selected at random  - Random number generator .  A total of 10 qualifiers will be invited to Finale party at C. Harper Auto Group, 100 Harper Drive, Belle Vernon, PA  15012 on TBD date in July/August 2024 at 5:00 pm EST.   EST. 

 

e.  All qualifiers that are present at Finale Party will put their names into a bin for a reverse drawing.    Any qualifier that is not able to be present at Finale Party C. Harper Auto Group, 100 Harper Drive, Belle Vernon, PA  15012 on TBD date in July/August 2024 at 5:00 pm EST will forfeit their qualifier status for the chance to win the grand prize. 

 

f. From all on-site qualifiers, 3 Finalists will be drawn on-site via reverse drawing.  2nd Runner Up, 1st Runner Up, and then Grand Prize winner.    Odds of a qualifier winning the Grand Prize will be 1 in 3.

 

g. Winners must be present to win.

 

h. Winners (or their parents or legal guardians if under the age of majority) must execute and return any required affidavit of eligibility and/or liability/publicity release within ten (10) days of notification attempt or winner will be disqualified and the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be chosen by random drawing. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to complete, sign and return the required affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within the required time period, or if a prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, potential winner will be disqualified and will forfeit the prize.

 

i. Grand Prize must be picked up at C. Harper Auto Group, 100 Harper Drive, Belle Vernon, PA 15012, as arranged by C. Harper Auto Group. The winner will forfeit any prize not claimed within 30 days of notification of winning.

 

6. CONDITIONS

 

a. Promoter reserves the right to change or update contest rules as needed, including date of finale and addition of sponsors and secondary prizes. 

 

b.  Payments of all federal, state, and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners. Winners will be required to complete and submit an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent including the winner’s full Social Security Number for receipt of any prize valued at $600 or more or for any prizes awarded by Promoter in a calendar year with an aggregate value of $600 or more. Failure to submit a complete W-9 or equivalent will result in disqualification and forfeiture of the prize.

 

c. Participating in the Promotion and acceptance of any prize constitutes each entrant’s and winner’s (and guest’s where applicable) permission for the Promoter or its agents to photograph, film, record that entrant, winner, or guest and to use his or her name, city, state, voice, or likeness, and any statements made by him or her regarding the Promotion or its sponsors for purposes of trade, publicity or promotion without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.

 

d. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, and depending on the nature of the prize and eligibility requirements of the contest, the Promoter in its sole discretion will require verification of Promotion winner’s identification by a showing of valid government-issued photo identification. By entering, participating and/or accepting a prize in the Promotion, each entrant, winner, and guest if applicable, agrees not to sue and to release, discharge, indemnify, hold harmless, and absolve the Station, the Promoter, its sponsors and promotional partners, its advertising and promotion agencies and each of their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated entities and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents, and representatives and the successors and assigns of each of them (the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, suits losses, expenses, costs, damages, and liabilities including, without limitation, interest, penalties, court costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the Promotion, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, which may occur in connection with, preparation for, travel to, or participation in Promotion, or possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any Promotion-related activity, including but not limited to any claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery. Promoter may require eligible Promotion winners and their guests or travel companions if any (as well as each of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s), if winners, guests or travel companions are under the age of majority in their state of residence), to sign a liability release confirming such consent. Except where prohibited, by entering the Promotion, each entrant agrees that (1) and any all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion or any Prize(s) shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form or class action, and exclusively by state or federal courts situated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; (2) any and all claims, judgements, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event shall such costs include attorneys’ fees; and (3) no punitive incidental, special, consequential or other damages, including, without limitation, lost profits may be awarded (collectively, “Special Damages”). Further, by entering the Promotion, each entrant waives all rights to claim Special Damages and all rights to have such damages multiplied or increased.

 

e. Promoter, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person (and all of their entries) from this Promotion if he or she tampers with the entry process, the operation of the Promotion, or the operation of Promoter’s web channel or it’s otherwise in violation of the Official Rules or direction of Promoter. Promoter further reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend the Promotion, or any part of it, if it is not capable of completion as planned or if any fraud, technical failures, or any factor beyond the Promoter’s control, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Promotion as determined by Promoter in is sole discretion. Any attempt by an entrant or any person to deliberately damage any Promoter web channel or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Promotion may be a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Promoter reserves the right to seek full prosecution and/or damages from any such individual to the fullest extent permitted by law. Promoter’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of this provision. If, due to circumstances beyond the control of Promoter, any competition or prize-related event or travel is delayed, rescheduled, postponed or cancelled, Promoter reserves the right, but not the obligation, to modify, suspend, or cancel the Promotion and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.

 

f. The Released Parties are not responsible for (i) typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering, or the administration of the Promotion, or in the announcement of a prize; (ii) entries not received due to difficulty accessing the internet, service outage or delays, computer difficulties, malfunctions, disconnections, other technological failures, telephone service outages, delays, dropped calls, or busy signals; or any other difficulties that may prevent an individual from entering or participating, or (iii) lost, stolen, mangled, misdelivered, misdirected, postage due, illegible, incomplete, incorrect, or late entries. Further, the Released Parties are not responsible if any part of a promotion prize that cannot be awarded due to acts of God, acts of war, natural disaster, weather, acts of terrorism, or other factors beyond the Station’s control.

 

g. Except where prohibited, by entering the Promotion, each entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with this Promotion or any Prize(s), shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (2) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event shall such costs include attorneys’ fees; and (3) no punitive, incidental, special, consequential or other damages, including, without limitation, lost profits may be awarded (collectively, “Special Damages”). Further, by entering the Promotion, each entrant waives all rights to claim Special Damages and all rights to have such damages multiplied or increased.

 

h. To obtain a copy of the Official Rules or a list of winners following completion of the Promotion (please specify which), send a self-addressed, stamped envelope (VT residents may omit return postage) specifying “Official Rules” or “Winner List” to Focus on Excellence Winner List or Focus on Excellence Official Rules Request, Renda Broadcasting Corporation – 900 Parish Street, 4th floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. A copy of the Official Rules and a list of winners (when complete) are also available during regular business hours at Renda Broadcasting Corporation – – 900 Parish Street, 4th floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. All such requests must be received within thirty (30) days following completion of the Promotion.

 

7. PRIVACY POLICY
